J. Brinkley was born in Tifton, Georgia. He writes in the genre of urban fiction and urban romance. In 2019 he was awarded the urban book of the year award by the African Americans On The Move Book Club (AAMBC).

He fell in love with writing as a teen and decided to take up creative writing classes to hone my skills. He published his first book in 2015. He has self-published a dozen novels under his own company, Voma Publications.

His stories center on memorable characters and timeless truths about humanity in all its glory and in all its ugly ruthlessness. His books are an embodiment of his unconventional philosophies about life and love through spellbinding stories that leave the readers wanting more.
